Fri 28 March 2025
Hong Kong, Tai Kwun, Artists’ Book LibraryHong Kong–based artist Sissi Kaplan will present a live performance, 77 Days: I am still here, drawn from her artist book, 77 Days: An Experience Report (2024), at the Artists’ Book Library on the second floor of Tai Kwun Contemporary. The hour-long music and spoken word performance presented with artistic collaborators Sam I-shan (book editor, curator) and Vivian Wang (sound artist), evokes a sense of displacement in space and time, using pre-recorded sounds and readings to establish a tension between the present and the recent past, conjuring memories of isolation, loss, and estrangement stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic.

experience of isolation, as an international traveler, then as a patient confined in hospital rooms and her apartment. 'Inflatables' featured in EXIT Magazine
Sat 1 Jul 2023
‘Inflatables’ is an ongoing photographic series of portraits of covered vehicles in different parts of the world. Under cover, the cars’ make and status symbols are equalised even as their distinct characters remain on display. Deprived of their functional mobility, these objects assert their mysterious presence in the public space. Their enveloping textiles are like skins that transmute their forms and subtly interact with the environment. They breathe, as if inhabited by a soul, the anima, inviting viewers to imagine phantasmagorical projections and observe movement in stillness.
